The countries that are members of BRICS will be subject to an additional 10 percent tariff by the President of the United States (US) Donald Trump. This is as conveyed by Donald Trump on the social media Truth Social on Sunday (6/7). This statement was conveyed by Trump along with the 17th BRICS summit which is being held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. "Any country that aligns with the anti-American BRICS policy will be subject to an additional 10 percent tariff. There will be no exceptions to this policy. Thank you for your attention to this issue," said Donald Trump, quoted Monday (7/7). Amid the threat, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto who accompanied President Prabowo Subianto at the BRICS Summit revealed a number of strategic agreements contained in the Leaders' Declaration. The four results of the agreement, said Airlangga, focus on strengthening multilateralism, global peace, economic cooperation, and sustainable development. "The outcomes of the meeting earlier, one of which was the leader declaration and in the leader declaration there were several points related to strengthening multilateralism and reform of global governance," said Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto in an online press conference, Monday (7/7). In addition, in the third agreement, Airlangga said that BRICS also agreed on the issues of climate change and sustainable development that is fair and inclusive.
