Tuesday, 01 Jul 2025

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto led a Limited Meeting at the Merdeka Palace, Friday (27/6), attended by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto and the Red and White Cabinet. In this meeting, the government discussed a number of important strategies in facing the increasingly complex dynamics of the global economy.

One of the concrete steps discussed was the deregulation of the real sector, especially through the revision of the Minister of Trade Regulation Number 8 of 2024. This regulation is an improvement on the Minister of Trade Regulation Number 36 of 2023

"One of the responses prepared by the government to be able to face the dynamics of the global economy is by encouraging deregulation of the real sector through simplification of export-import regulations by revising the Minister of Trade Regulation Number 8 of 2024 concerning amendments to the Minister of Trade Regulation Number 36 of 2023 concerning Import Policies and Regulations," said Spokesperson for the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Haryo Limanseto, quoted from a press release, Saturday (28/6).

"Within this framework, President Prabowo Subianto also emphasized that deregulation of the real sector must be directed to increase competitiveness, primarily through bureaucratic simplification so that it can maintain domestic economic growth," he continued.

President Prabowo also emphasized the importance of creating a healthy and competitive business climate by reducing licensing barriers, so that the attractiveness of national investment continues to increase.

Furthermore, this meeting also reviewed bilateral economic relations between Indonesia and the United States. The government noted positive developments in the trade dialogue between the two countries.

Haryo stated that both parties are now actively exploring various options in the negotiations, by considering the demand and supply that have been submitted intensively by their respective negotiating teams.

In addition, support from the United States Secretary of the Treasury and the United States Trade Representative for bilateral economic cooperation initiatives is also a breath of fresh air for the government's efforts to strengthen partnerships with the US.
