Indonesia and 22 other countries have condemned Israel's attacks on Iran since June 13, 2025. The condemnation was stated in a joint statement by dozens of countries initiated by Egypt. "(Joint statement of 23 countries) Hereby affirms the rejection and firm condemnation of the recent Israeli attacks on the Islamic Republic of Iran since June 13, 2025," wrote the joint statement distributed by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu), Thursday (6/19/2025). The countries also condemned any actions that violate international law and the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter. They emphasized the need to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, adhere to the principles of good neighborliness, and resolve disputes peacefully. These dozens of countries also urged an end to Israel's hostilities against Iran which were already very urgent. Then, they called for a complete de-escalation and ceasefire. "And the restoration of calm, while expressing great concern regarding this dangerous escalation, which threatens to have serious consequences for the peace and stability of the entire region," they wrote. Furthermore, the 23 countries also urged the implementation of the Middle East Zone Free of Nuclear Weapons and Other Weapons of Mass Destruction. This policy needs to apply to all countries in the region without exception, in accordance with relevant international resolutions. In line with that, the 23 countries urged all countries in the Middle East to join the Treaty on the Nonproliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). It is also important not to attack nuclear facilities under the protection of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), in accordance with IAEA resolutions and UN Security Council decisions. "Because such actions constitute a violation of international law and international humanitarian law, including the 1949 Geneva Conventions," they said. Instead of conflict, these countries also called on both parties to return to the path of negotiation, as the only feasible way to reach a sustainable agreement regarding Iran's nuclear program. Likewise, they called on both parties to refrain from efforts to undermine maritime security in accordance with relevant international law. "Diplomacy, dialogue and adherence to the principles of good neighbourliness, in accordance with international law and the UN Charter, remain the only viable path to resolving the crisis in the region, and military means cannot bring about a lasting resolution to the ongoing crisis," the 23 countries wrote.
