Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati stated that managing the State Budget (APBN) in the future will not be an easy task. This is due to the increasingly complex challenges amid rising global economic turmoil. This was conveyed by Sri Mulyani during her address at the inauguration of Echelon I officials of the Ministry of Finance on Friday (23/5/2025). At the event, Sri Mulyani also appointed two new officials chosen by President Prabowo Subianto, namely Bimo Wijayanto as the Director General of Taxes and Djaka Budhi Utama as the Director General of Customs. "The important task on your shoulders is to serve the nation, managing state finances in a credible, reliable, and trustworthy manner. This task is not easy because in the present and future, economic challenges and challenges in state finance will continue to be dynamic, complex, and even heavy," explained Sri Mulyani. "There is even competition and trade and economic wars, as well as military conflicts that will undoubtedly affect global economic growth, world trade, and also impact Indonesia's economy," she added. According to Sri Mulyani, the direct impact of such a dynamic and complex global environment is evident and requires the APBN to remain dependable. "Therefore, the APBN must be an instrument that can continuously be relied upon, a healthy, credible, and sustainable instrument. Only with a healthy, credible, and sustainable APBN can it fulfill its duties in accordance with the State Finance Law, whether performing allocation functions, distribution functions, or stabilization functions," she stated. Sri Mulyani further added that as the authority managing state finances, the Ministry of Finance has several responsibilities, ranging from formulating macroeconomic policies, key fiscal policies, collecting state revenues, to managing state expenditures, both at the central level and transfers to regions.
