President Prabowo Wants To Meet Trump To Discuss Import Tariffs

President Prabowo Subianto admitted that he planned to meet with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, to discuss import tariff negotiations. President Prabowo said he had asked for time regarding his meeting with Trump. However, he has not explained the exact plan for the meeting. 

The planned meeting with Trump took place at a time when many other world leaders were also queuing to meet the number one person in America. 

Previously, the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sugiono, revealed that the Indonesian government had long submitted an official request for President Prabowo to meet with President Trump. 

"With this development, I think it will also be discussed (for Prabowo and Trump to meet), we'll see later," said Sugiono in his statement to the media, on the Presidential Secretariat YouTube, Friday, April 11, 2025. 

According to Sugiono, the letter requesting the meeting had been sent since the beginning of Trump's term, long before the announcement of the latest import tariff policy from America. 

Furthermore, Sugiono did not reveal further regarding the latest developments regarding the certainty of Prabowo and Trump meeting. He promised to publish it to the public when there was a definite time. 

"If it's ready, we'll let you know," he said.
