The birth of MSG AJI-NO-MOTO® originated from research conducted by Dr. Kikunae Ikeda in Japan over a century ago by extracting kombu (seaweed). In his research, Ikeda discovered another taste besides sweet, bitter, sour, and salty, which is umami taste. Umami comes from Glutamic Acid (a type of Amino Acid) which functions, among others, in carrying out metabolic processes such as protein formation in the body. The Ajinomoto Group has been researching and applying the function of amino acids for over 100 years through a scientific approach called "AminoScience".

This discovery led to the creation of umami seasoning, MSG AJI-NO-MOTO, which can help enhance the deliciousness of food. "Creating delicious seasonings at an affordable price and transforming simple yet nutritious food into tasty meals" - this is the vision of Dr. Ikeda that has spread worldwide, including Indonesia.

Established in Indonesia since July 1969, the Ajinomoto Indonesia Group currently consists of 3 companies, namely PT AJINOMOTO INDONESIA, PT AJINOMOTO SALES INDONESIA, PT AJINEX INTERNATIONAL. With 55 years of presence, Ajinomoto continues to innovate by introducing various product lines.
