Menko Airlangga Expresses Confidence In Economic Growth For The First Quarter Of 2025

Thursday, 03 Apr 2025

The government is optimistic that the momentum of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr will significantly contribute to economic growth in the first quarter of 2025. This period typically sees an increase in consumer spending, which in turn boosts economic development.

"During festive seasons, we usually observe a substantial economic growth due to increased spending. The government hopes this will serve as a catalyst for economic growth in the first quarter of 2025," stated Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto during a press conference at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs on Thursday, March 27, 2025.

The economic stimulus package to be implemented in the first half of 2025 includes the National Religious Holiday (HBKN) stimulus for Ramadan and Eid, which features discounts on airline tickets, the reintroduction of Harbolnas 2025, the Epic Sales 2025 program, the BINA (Shop in Indonesia) Discount 2025, toll fee discounts, and food price stabilization measures.

Additionally, ongoing economic stimulus initiatives include rice assistance provided to 16 million beneficiary families at 10 kg per month during January and February 2025, electricity tariff discounts for customers with capacities ranging from 450 VA to 2200 VA during the same months, VAT exemptions for property and automotive purchases, government-subsidized income for labor-intensive sectors, optimized distribution of KUR in the first quarter of 2025, and enhanced rice harvest realization in the same quarter.

"We hope that these initiatives will effectively support purchasing power, complemented by the distribution of holiday bonuses," explained Airlangga.

Regarding the current cash flow, which is not as robust as during the previous year's Eid al-Fitr, Airlangga noted that this is due to the upcoming general elections in 2024, a factor that will not be present in 2025.

"This impacts consumption; however, with the existing programs, the government anticipates an increase in consumption," concluded Airlangga.
