JAPFA's commitment to supporting the progress of education, especially in the field of animal husbandry, is realized through providing barn facilities for State Universities in various regions in Indonesia. This time, JAPFA, together with Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the "Construction of Closed House Teaching Farm for Poultry Farming" on the UNHAS campus in Makassar, South Sulawesi. The construction of the closed-house barn, covering an area of approximately 1,500 m2, also supports the implementation of the Higher Education Tri Dharma, which includes Education, Research, and Community Service at the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, UNHAS. The barn, with a population of up to 24,000 birds, is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. The total investment by JAPFA amounts to Rp3 billion. UNHAS Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc, expressed his gratitude in his speech, saying, "Thank you to JAPFA for their significant contribution, not only to us but to all parties. Building UNHAS is the same as building Indonesia because we play a crucial role in producing quality and competitive young generations as the nation's future leaders. Furthermore, by developing UNHAS, we are also accelerating the development of Eastern Indonesia. I hope that JAPFA's initiative can attract industry partners to collaborate because animal husbandry is the future. Especially since animal protein is one of our main food sources." JAPFA's Director of Corporate Affairs, Rachmat Indrajaya, revealed, "The grant of poultry barns is JAPFA's contribution to the regeneration of farmers in Indonesia. Through this collaboration, we hope to have a positive impact on the Indonesian livestock industry, especially poultry farming, and further ensure the supply of quality and affordable animal protein for the community. Additionally, it is hoped that Indonesian poultry will become internationally competitive." JAPFA has previously provided similar cage grants to several other educational institutions, including UGM, Brawijaya University, Syiah Kuala University, and Pesantren Modern Al-Barokah Simalungun. The latest one is the establishment of the Poultry Research Farm at IPB University, which was inaugurated in early 2023. At the Teaching Farm, JAPFA will share practical knowledge covering livestock maintenance, animal health monitoring, ensuring biosecurity, as well as livestock business management.
