Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has established a new organizational structure within the Ministry of Finance. One significant change is the transformation of the Fiscal Policy Agency into the Directorate General of Economic and Fiscal Strategy. This change is outlined in the Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) Number 124/2024 concerning the Organization and Work Procedures of the Ministry of Finance. The regulation was signed by Sri Mulyani on December 30, 2024, and took effect on the same day. This PMK serves as a derivative regulation of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 158/2024 regarding the Ministry of Finance, which was signed by President Prabowo Subianto on November 5, 2024, and promulgated on that date. Article 7 of Presidential Regulation 158/2024 details the organizational structure of the Ministry of Finance, including the name of the Directorate General of Economic and Fiscal Strategy. The new Directorate will assume several functions previously held by the Fiscal Policy Agency (BKF). Whereas the BKF was led by a Head of Agency, the Directorate General of Economic and Fiscal Strategy will be headed by a Director General (Dirjen), who will report directly to the Minister. The name of the Director General for Economic and Fiscal Strategy will be announced by Sri Mulyani during the inauguration of officials with the new institutional nomenclature. The Directorate General of Economic and Fiscal Strategy is tasked with formulating and implementing policies in the areas of economic and fiscal strategy in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, as stated in Article 185 of PMK 124/2024 on January 15, 2025. Among the functions of the Directorate General of Economic and Fiscal Strategy are the formulation and execution of policies related to macro-fiscal strategy, sectoral issues, revenue, expenditure, and financing. The Directorate is also responsible for developing norms, standards, procedures, and criteria for the prepared policies. Additionally, the Directorate General of Economic and Fiscal Strategy will provide technical guidance and supervision over policies, as well as conduct monitoring, analysis, evaluation, and reporting on these policies. The Directorate General of Economic Strategy and Fiscal Affairs at the Ministry of Finance will oversee several directorates, including: - Secretariat of the Directorate General - Directorate of Economic Stabilization Strategy - Directorate of Welfare and Economic Equity Strategy - Directorate of Productivity and Economic Growth Strategy - Directorate of Tax Strategy - Directorate of Non-Tax State Revenue Strategy - Directorate of State Revenue and Expenditure Budget Strategy
