Wednesday, 08 Jan 2025

The Indonesian Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, has appointed several high-ranking officials within the Ministry of Health. The event took place in the Siwabessy Auditorium, Prof. Sujudi Building, on the second floor, on Monday (January 7, 2025).

In his speech, Minister Budi emphasized that the newly appointed officials have a significant responsibility, considering the vast scope of healthcare services in Indonesia.

"You are responsible for 280 million Indonesians, thousands of hospitals, tens of thousands of clinics and community health centers, as well as hundreds of thousands of healthcare workers. This is a major responsibility in terms of budget and its impact on society," said the Minister of Health.

Minister Budi also highlighted three key areas that should be the focus of healthcare services: access, quality, and cost. He stressed the importance of ensuring that all citizens, regardless of their location, can easily access quality healthcare at affordable prices.

"Ideally, Indonesians should be able to reach healthcare services within an hour. This is a significant challenge, especially in an archipelagic country like Indonesia, with over 17,000 islands, 7,000 of which are inhabited. However, with innovative breakthroughs and the use of the latest technology, we can address this challenge," explained the Minister of Health.

Minister Budi also pointed out the need for equitable quality of healthcare services across all regions of Indonesia. "The quality of services must be the same, whether in cities or villages, on large or small islands. This challenge requires a well-thought-out strategy and cross-sector collaboration," he added.

Additionally, Minister Budi reminded everyone of the importance of managing substantial resources effectively and responsibly.

National health spending has exceeded Rp 500 trillion, with the Ministry of Health managing a budget of over Rp 100 trillion. This highlights that the risks in management are directly related to the benefits for the community, presenting a challenge we must tackle together.

“If we succeed, Indonesia can become a global model for providing the best health services in complex geographical and demographic conditions. This is the greatest legacy we can leave for future generations,” concluded the Minister of Health.

At the end of the event, Minister Budi congratulated the newly appointed officials and expressed hope that they would perform their duties well and positively impact health development in Indonesia.
