Kalbe Nutritionals, through its product Nutrive Benecol, in collaboration with the Indonesian Catering Entrepreneurs Association (APJI), successfully attracted nearly 3,000 participants to the KulineRun APJI by Nutrive Benecol 2024 at Akkarena Beach, Makassar, from December 6 to 8, 2024. The event, themed Sportainment: Run–Eat–Repeat, combined relaxed sports, a festival of traditional Indonesian cuisine, and lively music entertainment. In addition to promoting a healthy lifestyle, KulineRun APJI by Nutrive Benecol 2024 also empowered over 40 local culinary SMEs, creating a memorable experience for visitors. Robertus Parulian Purba, Director of Adult and Specialized Nutrition at Kalbe Nutritionals, stated, “High cholesterol is now a major health threat that significantly increases heart disease rates. As a health partner in KulineRun APJI by Nutrive Benecol 2024, we believe this collaboration is unique because it combines two seemingly opposing elements: food and exercise. However, this is the important message we want to convey: with a healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise and incorporating Nutrive Benecol, we can enjoy our favorite foods without worrying about cholesterol risks.” Nutrive Benecol is the only beverage containing a herbal ingredient called Plant Stanol Ester, which binds dietary cholesterol to prevent its absorption by the body. Clinical studies have shown that Benecol can lower cholesterol levels by 10% within two weeks when consumed twice daily after meals. We aim to make it easier for Indonesians to enjoy delicious food without compromising their health. KulineRun APJI by Nutrive Benecol 2024 also serves as an important educational platform to address the prevalence of high cholesterol in Indonesia, which reached 35.9% among adults, according to the 2018 Riskesdas data. Unhealthy lifestyle factors, such as high saturated fat intake, low physical activity, obesity, and smoking habits, are the main causes of this condition. In response, Coach Atoz from the Freeletics Makassar community expressed appreciation for the event. Atoz stated that KulineRun APJI by Nutrive Benecol 2024 offers a unique experience, combining education and fun in one platform that inspires all visitors to lead a healthy life. "We are very happy to participate in this event. Besides running, we also received important information on how to maintain health, especially in managing cholesterol levels. This is very relevant to our goal as a community to motivate more people to live healthily," Atoz shared. In addition to educating the public about the importance of cholesterol health, the event also empowered local small and medium enterprises (SMEs). A total of 40 culinary SMEs featuring traditional Indonesian dishes, such as Soto Banjar, Gado-Gado, and Kari Lontong, took part in the event. Mochammad Ibrahim Zainal, the event organizer of KulineRun APJI by Nutrive Benecol 2024 and a member of APJI DPD South Sulawesi, noted, "The enthusiasm of the Makassar community for this event is extraordinary. Traditional dishes like Soto Banjar, Gado-Gado, and Kari Lontong are major attractions that boost the income of culinary SMEs. The highlight of the event, Race Day, held on December 8, 2024, saw over 1,380 runners participating in the 7K category. This shows the community's strong spirit for an active and healthy lifestyle and proves that innovative collaboration can bring dual benefits for public health and local economic growth." The series of activities was further enlivened by local musicians, adding to the excitement of the event until the grand finale. KulineRun APJI by Nutrive Benecol 2024 demonstrated that promoting health can be enjoyable and relevant.
