Airlangga Is Set To Announce The Latest Tax Incentive Package This Week

Saturday, 14 Dec 2024

The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, is set to announce the latest economic stimulus package. According to Airlangga, this package will include tax incentives provided by the government for the automotive and property sectors. "It will be announced this week," he stated during a meeting at his office on Thursday, December 12, 2024.

Airlangga indicated that the government plans to offer tax relaxation for the domestic automotive industry to boost sales. This tax relaxation will consist of incentives for the luxury goods sales tax (PPnBM) applicable to automotive products. "We hope to finalize this economic package," he added.

Additionally, the government will unveil a value-added tax (VAT) incentive borne by the government (DTP) for the housing sector. This incentive aims to enhance the purchasing power of the public, particularly regarding property products.

Airlangga mentioned that the VAT DTP incentive for housing will also be announced this week, alongside the PPnBM for the automotive sector. However, he could not confirm the exact date for the announcement of these tax incentives or whether both would be revealed simultaneously. "If possible, we would like to announce them together. If not, they will be announced in stages," said the former Chairman of the Golkar Party.

Previously, Airlangga expressed that this tax incentive package is essential. He believes that the two key components of tax incentives currently needed by the middle class are housing and vehicles to support their work mobility. Airlangga also noted that these incentives aim to enhance the competitiveness of established players in the national labor-intensive industry, ensuring they remain competitive against new labor-intensive industry players backed by foreign investment.
