The Ministry of Industry continues to produce competent human resources (HR) in the industrial sector in the Eastern region of Indonesia. This is in line with the growth of the industrial sector outside of Java Island in order to promote economic equality. "Industrial sector is the main driver of national economic development. One of the efforts is to prepare excellent HR through vocational education and training, which has made a significant contribution to the development of the national industry, from the Western region to Eastern Indonesia," said Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita in Jakarta, on Sunday (2/6). Through the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI), the Ministry of Industry organizes competent and competitive vocational training and education in the industry. This role is carried out by all vocational education units within the Ministry of Industry, such as the ATI Makassar Polytechnic, which specializes in the agro industry. The polytechnic offers four D3 level study programs, namely Agro Industrial Engineering, Automation of Machinery Systems, Agro Industrial Manufacturing Engineering, and Mineral Chemical Engineering. In addition to the D3 program, the ATI Makassar Polytechnic has also implemented an equivalent D1 vocational program in collaboration with PT Pupuk Kaltim. This year, the equivalent D1 program is attended by 30 participants, all of whom come from various regions in Eastern Indonesia, such as Bontang, Fakfak in West Papua, Ternate, and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). "This program is a concrete manifestation of what the Ministry of Industry is doing in preparing skilled and reliable industrial HR according to the current industry needs," said the Head of BPSDMI, Masrokhan. In the equivalent D1 program, participants receive materials with a link and match composition according to industry needs. In addition to theory, participants also receive industrial world practice at PT Pupuk Kaltim and receive an Industrial Work Practice Certificate (Prakerin) from the company as a recognition of having completed the education within the specified time. Director of Politeknik ATI Makassar, Muhammad Basri, expressed his appreciation to PT Pupuk Kaltim for entrusting them as the organizer of the equivalent D1 program. "Thank you for Pupuk Kaltim's trust in establishing this equivalent D1 industrial vocational program partnership, hopefully the collaboration will continue for relevant study programs in our field," he said.
