The demand for telecommunications and communication products is booming as various digital technology service needs continue to grow rapidly worldwide. These products include cell phones, laptops, cables, and digital applications that have now become essential needs for both industries and the general public.

"The Ministry of Industry is committed to advancing the competitive ICT industry, with one of its strategic steps being to facilitate the promotion of product capabilities, services, and technologies in the international market, especially for the national electronics and telematics industries," said Director of Electronics and Telematics Industry (IET) at the Ministry of Industry, Priyadi Arie Nugroho in his statement in Jakarta, Sunday (2/6).

Promotional facilities include participation in the Communic Asia 2024 event in Singapore, which is a collaboration between the Ministry of Industry and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Singapore. This international event aims to introduce the capabilities of the national industry, especially in the electronics and telematics sectors, while also bridging the connection of these industries with the global supply chain.

At this prestigious event, the Ministry of Industry brought 11 companies to showcase domestic industry products and technologies, such as fiber optic cables, IoT, laptops, CCTV, and digital solutions.

"At Communic Asia 2024, the Ministry of Industry also facilitated a business forum with the theme 'The Role of the ICT Industry in Indonesia's Digital Transformation,'" said Priyadi. The business forum was opened by the Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, Suryo Pratomo, and was attended by more than 100 participants from ASEAN regions to other countries.

The business forum is also utilized to provide information to visitors and Co-Exhibitors of Communic Asia 2024 regarding the advantages of products and services offered by the national industry, including the capabilities and demand of internet service in Indonesia by the Chairman of the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association, the capabilities of the Indonesian industry to supply global submarine fiber optic cable demand by the representative of PT Communication Cable System Indonesia, and the communication technology solution in plantation, mining area, and rural area by the representative of PT Mitra Akses Globalindo.

During the event, the Ministry of Industry presented industrial development policies through a combination of fiscal and non-fiscal policies. Fiscal policies that have been formulated by the government include tax holidays, tax allowances, and super tax deductions as strategies to encourage investment, technology mastery, and strengthening of the industrial structure that can be utilized by industrial companies that meet the specified requirements and criteria. "On the other hand, non-fiscal policies given to industrial companies include facilitating their participation in international exhibitions," he added.

The Ministry of Industry appreciates the domestic industry that participated in Communic Asia 2024. Priyadi stated that national industrial products have complied with international standards and quality and are competitive on the international stage. This is proven by the consistent contribution of industrial product exports to the overall export value.

Throughout 2023, the export value of electronic and telematics products reached USD 9.09 billion, especially for home appliances and telecommunications equipment. "We continuously strive to expand export market access for the national industry, especially to potential markets in the Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa," said Priyadi.
