Hooray! Trump Finally Cuts Import Tariffs From Indonesia To 10%

Monday, 14 Apr 2025

United States (US) President Donald Trump has finally softened his stance on import tariffs on trade goods entering Uncle Sam's country, including the imposition of reciprocal tariffs targeting almost all countries in the world.

Likewise for Indonesia, which was initially subject to a reciprocal tariff of 32 percent. Now, Indonesian goods entering the US are only subject to a 10 percent tariff.

Quoting The Guardian, Thursday, April 10, 2025, Trump announced a temporary 90-day tariff suspension for most countries except China, whose tariff was actually increased to 125 percent.

After days of insisting that he would stick to his aggressive trade strategy, Trump announced that all countries that did not retaliate against US tariffs would receive a reprieve, and only face a total US tariff of 10 percent.

Tariff cuts apply until July

The decision is a temporary tariff cut imposed by Trump. The statute of limitations on the tariffs is until July 2025.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump had raised tariffs on China. "When you hit the United States, President Trump hits back harder," she said.
