The Ministry of Health has set up 1,574 health posts across Indonesia to ensure safe travel for the public during the Christmas and New Year holidays in 2024.

"We want to make sure that people can travel safely and healthily during this holiday season. The health posts located in strategic areas will provide basic health services, emergency care, and quick referral facilities if needed," said Minister Budi G. Sadikin.

Officials from the Ministry of Health visited one of the health posts at KM 57 in Karawang, West Java, on Tuesday (December 24, 2024), to check the readiness and availability of health facilities and personnel at the post.

Director General of Health Services, Dr. Azhar Jaya, stated that healthcare workers, including doctors and nurses, will be on duty in three shifts to ensure 24-hour service. In West Java, 97 hospitals are prepared as referral centers, including 9 hospitals near the KM 57 health post in Karawang.

"During the holiday season, we also ensure that community health centers along the northern coast and arterial routes remain open 24 hours. There will be no leave for healthcare workers at these facilities," said Dr. Azhar.

According to Dr. Azhar Jaya, health posts have been established in various strategic locations such as toll roads, rest areas, major intersections, tourist spots, airports, terminals, and ports.

"In West Java alone, there are 266 health posts ready to provide integrated health services for travelers during the Christmas and New Year holidays," he mentioned while at the KM 57 health post in Karawang.

The services at these health posts include basic health checks like blood pressure and blood sugar tests, as well as emergency care. The posts are also equipped with both four-wheeled and two-wheeled ambulances to reach difficult locations, especially in case of heavy traffic.

Health posts are equipped with patient beds, examination tools like blood pressure monitors and stethoscopes, IV sets, IV fluids, medications, oxygen tanks, emergency kits, consultation tables, chairs, medicine storage, patient record forms, and ambulances.

The Ministry of Health advises the public to prepare before traveling, ensuring both physical health and vehicle condition are good.

"Get enough rest, follow traffic signs, and use health posts if you feel tired or need assistance," said Director General Azhar.
