The government has confirmed that there will be no additional public holiday on December 27, 2024, despite this date falling between the Christmas holiday and the weekend. This announcement was made by Warsito, the Acting Deputy for Coordination of Education Quality Improvement and Religious Moderation at the Ministry of Human Development and Cultural Affairs, during an official statement in Jakarta on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, as reported by Antara. "A total of 10 national public holidays have already been designated, leaving only two days available for flexible leave requests, thus making it impossible to add another public holiday," stated Warsito. This decision comes in response to various public suggestions, including requests for a holiday on Friday, December 27. However, Warsito emphasized that the quota for public holidays this year has been fully allocated in accordance with the Joint Decree (SKB) of 2024. Private sector employees are entitled to 12 days of annual leave. With the 10 public holidays already established by the government, Warsito noted that there are only two days of annual leave remaining that can be utilized flexibly. The government had previously designated December 26, 2024, as a public holiday, occurring one day after Christmas on December 25. This policy aims to provide more opportunities for Christians to celebrate Christmas with their families and to prepare for the anticipated surge in travel. He expressed hope that government services during the Christmas and New Year holidays would operate smoothly under the slogan "Exciting Nataru Holidays." Warsito is optimistic that the spirit and productivity of the workforce will increase following the holiday period spent with family. "I hope that all the services we provide will bring benefits to the community, and that productivity will rise after the holiday," concluded Warsito.
