Zurich And Adira Finance Collaborate To Support The Conservation Efforts Of The Mangrove Habitat In AngkeKapuk

Friday, 14 Jun 2024

Today, Zurich Indonesia and Z Zurich Foundation (Zurich) collaborated with PT AdiraDinamika Multi Finance Tbk (Adira Finance) to support mangrove reforestation as a coastal protector by planting 750 mangrove seedlings in the Angke Nature Reserve (TWA), Kapuk, North Jakarta. This activity is based on more than 50% of Indonesia's mangroves being lost in the last 30 years, making Indonesia have the fastest mangrove destruction rate in the world (Food and Agriculture Organization/FAO, 2023).

Zurich Indonesia's Country Manager, Edhi Tjahja Negara, said, "As a tangible form of commitment to building a sustainable financial industry, Zurich Indonesia strives to create growth that aligns economic, social, and environmental aspects. This activity is also carried out to celebrate Customer Month, which falls in June simultaneously in various Asia-Pacific countries where Zurich operates."

Collaborative environmental preservation initiatives like this will continue between Zurich and Adira Finance. The initiative involving more than 150 employees from Zurich Indonesia and Adira Finance also marks the beginning of a healthy walking competition for all Adira Finance employees in the GardiraSehat Program.

This challenge is held through Zurich's LiveWell application, a health and wellness app designed to help users achieve their health goals. For every five billion healthy steps collected by employees until November 2024, 1,000 trees will be planted.

At the same time, the Director of HR & Marketing at PT AdiraDinamika Multi Finance (Adira Finance), SwandajaniGunadi, stated, "As a manifestation of the company's commitment to environmental care, public health, and part of sustainable financing programs, Adira Finance through the SayangBumiku Program collaborates with Zurich to plant mangrove seedlings and hold a healthy walking competition for employees."

We hope this collaboration can be a catalyst for positive change and sustainability, as well as inspire various parties to protect the environment and improve the lives of the community. This is in line with Adira Finance's vision of creating shared value to enhance well-being.

Furthermore, the mangrove planting activity is part of the SayangBumiku Program, which has been ongoing since 2023. Adira Finance has planted more than 16,000 mangrove seedlings and will continue by planting 5,000 more in Cilacap Regency in July.

Zurich and Adira Finance believe that reforestation is a crucial first step in combating the impacts of climate change and biodiversity loss. Throughout 2023, Zurich has planted over 2,000 trees in various regions of Indonesia as an effort to preserve the environment.

As part of this series of activities, coastal communities also receive assistance in the form of tools and training to enhance their small-scale mangrove cultivation businesses.
