PT Pertamina Trans Kontinental (PTK) and PT Pertamina Internasional Shipping (PIS) conducted a monitoring and evaluation of the Social and Environmental Responsibility program in the Energi Berdikari Village (DEB) “Omah Sinau” in Jambi on Thursday (November 14) afternoon at Tanjung Sari. During this evaluation, PTK invited the Head of the Environmental Agency and representatives from the Agriculture and Food Security Office of Jambi City to ensure that all processes at DEB Omah Sinau are running smoothly.

Since its inauguration in October 2023, DEB Omah Sinau has developed into an educational tourism center focused on waste management and sustainable use of renewable energy. Over the past three years, PTK has helped DEB manage 31.5 tons of waste from January to November 2024, which includes 28 tons of inorganic waste and 3.5 tons of organic waste for maggot cultivation and biofloc fish feed.

Originally a waste bank, DEB Omah Sinau has transformed into a comprehensive waste management facility for both inorganic and organic waste. It features a dedicated area for maggot cultivation, a breeding site for Black Soldier Fly, and four biofloc ponds with a capacity of 10,000 catfish. The facility also includes a library for discussions and a solar power system with a capacity of 4.4 KWh to support all operations at DEB Omah Sinau. PTK has also provided waste bank facilities, including a plastic press and weighing scales for five neighborhood units to expand the reach of DEB Omah Sinau.

During the monitoring and evaluation, VP Legal & Relations PTK, Sonny Mirath, emphasized that the TJSL program at DEB has significantly impacted the local community in Tanjung Sari, particularly in waste management and the use of clean energy.

The TJSL DEB program aligns with sustainable development goals (SDGs) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. We are dedicated to promoting effective waste management and the use of renewable energy, which not only improves community well-being but also protects the environment, said Sonny Mirath.

At the same event, Dr. H. Ardi, SP, M. Si., the Head of the Jambi City Environmental Agency, praised PTK for its efforts in developing the DEB Omah Sinau Jambi. Ardi noted that the progress of DEB Omah Sinau is rapid, and the collaboration between the community and PTK should serve as a model for other companies in Jambi.

"I hope companies in the Jambi area can see how well the collaboration between the community and businesses works. This can lead to similar TJSL activities. The issues in Jambi, including waste, are a shared responsibility," Ardi stated.
