Lenovo provides an overview of the adoption and implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in the ASEAN region, which among other things shows that the implementation of Generative AI has increased rapidly. "There are 43 percent in ASEAN, including Indonesia, these organizations have productivity gains due to AI. Another interesting fact is that there are 12 percent who extensively use AI; there are pilots, 23 percent are just having fun; there are also 65 percent who are just planning," said Budi Janto, General Manager of Lenovo Indonesia at the launch of the CIO Technology Playbook 2025, Jakarta, Thursday (27/2). Data quality is said to be one of the main factors for the success of AI adoption and implementation. The reason is, AI projects are prone to failure due to data quality issues. In addition to data, the problem of integrating AI with existing systems and processes is also often an obstacle. Other obstacles are funding issues or management that is reluctant to try AI technology. On the other hand, the CIO Playbook 2025 released as a result of Lenovo's collaboration with IDC also highlights the key to the success of AI implementation in ASEAN, one of which is access to partners with strong AI capabilities. Other keys to success are the availability of AI experts within the organization, data compliance and sovereignty, the availability of quality data, and the integration of AI with existing systems. Organizations in ASEAN are said to be spending more of their funds on AI, estimated to grow by around 2.7 times in 2025 compared to 2024. Some departments that are getting this technological boost are customer service, IT Ops, engineering or R&D, software development, and sales. In terms of implementation, interpretive AI has been quite popular over the past 12 months with a share of up to 66 percent. Interpretive AI works by filtering large amounts of information, data, and code to provide the information needed to simplify and improve workflows.
