Cibinong, West Java - In a significant move for West Java's hospitality sector, Archipelago International, Southeast Asia's largest privately owned hotel management group, has officially commenced construction on two new properties in Cibinong, Bogor. The groundbreaking ceremony for the Aston Cibinong Resort & Convention Center and Harper Cibinong was held on November 26, 2025, marking the start of a major development project slated for completion in 2027. The event, attended by local government officials and company executives, symbolizes a major investment in the region's tourism and business event capabilities.
The dual-hotel project is being developed by PT Grand Wahid Pratama and will offer a combined total of 450 guest rooms, catering to different market segments within a single, integrated complex. The Aston Cibinong Resort & Convention Center is positioned as a four-star resort property designed to be a premier destination for large-scale events. It will feature 232 rooms and its defining facility: a grand ballroom with a massive capacity for up to 2,000 guests, supported by 23 additional multifunctional meeting rooms.
Complementing the resort, Harper Cibinong will operate as a three-star hotel within the same complex, offering 218 rooms and its own meeting facilities focused on providing a modern and efficient stay experience. This strategic pairing allows the development to attract a wide range of travelers, from corporate groups and conference attendees at Aston to individual business and leisure guests at Harper. The shared location, just seven minutes from the Citeureup Toll Gate, offers excellent accessibility for visitors from Greater Jakarta and beyond.

The development addresses a growing demand for quality accommodation and large-format event spaces in the Bogor region. John Flood, CEO of Archipelago International, stated that the project is a direct response to the "promising tourism growth throughout Cibinong - Bogor". He emphasized the company's mission to create world-class properties, anticipating that the resort and convention center will become a standout asset in their portfolio.
Beyond the ballrooms and guest rooms, both properties are planned to offer comprehensive lifestyle amenities. These include specialty restaurants, swimming pools, fitness centers, and spa facilities, ensuring a complete guest experience whether for business or leisure. The Aston resort will also capitalize on its setting by offering tranquil lake views, enhancing its appeal as a destination for weddings and retreats.
This investment by Archipelago International is part of a broader wave of confidence in Indonesia's tourism and business travel sectors. The company's portfolio spans over 63 Aston-branded and 13 Harper-branded properties globally, and this expansion aligns with strategic partnerships aimed at boosting visibility. For instance, a recent collaboration with digital travel platform Agoda has made over 190 Archipelago properties in Indonesia more accessible to a global audience, particularly travelers from key Asian markets.
The 2027 opening of the Aston Cibinong Resort & Convention Center and Harper Cibinong is poised to redefine the standard of hospitality in the area. By combining extensive convention facilities with resort-style amenities and a complementary budget-friendly option, the project is strategically positioned to become the region's foremost destination for major corporate events, social gatherings, and tourist stays, contributing significantly to local economic development and employment.
